Projects
The main project I am involved in currently is:
ANR project FLOWINg (2007-2009)
FLOWINg stands for:
Fronts, secondary
cycLOnes and gravity Waves:
Instability, mixing and traNsport
In a nutshell: there are aspects of the small-scale dynamics of fronts
(regions of strong shear and thermal gradients) that remain poorly
understood. In particular, issues concerning the generation of
gravity waves from fronts and secondary cyclogenesis need to be
further studied. This project focuses on the instabilities of fronts,
investigating those with different approaches ranging from laboratory
experiments to numerical modeling and analytical methods. The aim is
to obtain a better understanding of the ageostrophic instabilities of
fronts in order to quantify the role of these instabilities in gravity
wave generation and secondary cyclogenesis.
